KENNISCENTRUM HANDEL
Horapark 2
6717 LZ Ede - The Netherlands

Kenniscentrum Handel (KCH) is the Centre of Expertise for vocational education and training in the retail, wholesale and international trade sectors. Working in collaboration with companies, trade organisations and the vocational training sector, Kenniscentrum Handel ensures that VET-programmes are neatly geared to the relevant profession and the requirements of the labour market. To this end, Kenniscentrum Handel performs labour market research and develops and maintains the national qualification structure for the trade sector. Kenniscentrum Handel also develops examinations for various vocational training programmes and courses.
Approximately 40,000 trainees attend a VET-programme in the trade sector each year. They may choose on of two routes: a workbased route and a schoolbased route. Both routes lead to equally valued diplomas, depending on the qualification. Both routes differ in the amount of practice training or work placement. Kenniscentrum Handel is responsible for the quantity and quality of practice training opportunities for trainees. Therefore, Kenniscentrum Handel acquires retail, wholesale and international trade companies for practice training, acknowledges them as official practice training companies, and advises them on the form and content of practice training for these trainees. Approximately 26,000 training companies, from which 500 companies abroad, have already been acknowledged. Kenniscentrum Handel employs about 140 professionals, working as training consultants, trainers, examinations developers, qualification developers and educational and labour market researchers. Kenniscentrum Handel is seated in Ede, the Netherlands.
