Evaluation procedures

ECVET - Key topics > More about VET > Greece

1. Initial Vocational Training - OEEK

  • a. Curricula: a group of experts analyses the labour market's needs and submits proposals. OEEK is in charge of the assessment; the external evaluation involves all Private Institutes and it is performed by the experts
  • b. Certification: O.E.E.K. and the School Managers are responsible for handling exams twice a year.

2. Continuing Vocational Training - EKEPIS

  • The procedure is similar to the one followed in the Initial Vocational Training but the body responsible for the design and the implementation is the National Accreditation Centre for Continuing Vocational Training;
  • The certification is awarded after having attended at least the 90% of the programme.

3. Secondary Education

  • EPAL-EPAS: the body responsible is the Pedagogical Institute which is a decentralized Public body operating under the supervision of the Ministry of Education
  • EPAL is divided in three years; the students make the exam at the end of each school year. The certificate corresponds to the EQF level 3.

The validation and the recognition of the informal and non formal learning is deemed an important topic but a framework to regulate the procedures doesn't exist yet. Several sector-based initiatives have been launched by few Ministries.
