The initial vocational education & training is provided mainly by OEEK (Organisation for Vocational Education & Training). Within the framework of the National VET System, OEEK acts as an autonomous body under the supervision of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs. It also responsible for the Public Vocational Training Institutes (IEK) and supervises the private ones. Other VET providers are the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Development, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Commercial Marine etc.

The continuing vocational training is provided by the Universities, the Public and Private Organizations, the Prefectures, the Ministries and the NGO's. In this case, the training is provided by the Vocational Training Centres (KEK, either privately-owned or public) and other bodies which offer a variety of courses addressed mainly to unemployed people but also to employees.

The Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs awards the most of certificates/degrees concerning the Secondary Vocational Education whereas the Organisation for VET is the main awarding body in the field of Higher Education.

Greek strategy is designed to develop new synergies at both national and regional level by promoting partnerships in the different public and private sectors and areas.

The social partners and stakeholders play an important role in planning and implementing the VET policy: for example, they take part in the administration bodies of all relevant organisations such as OEEK, EKEPIS, EKEP etc.
